The Fifth Session
On September 7, 2017, the Fifth Shenzhen International Low Carbon City Forum was held in Shenzhen, with the theme of “Jointly Shoulder the Responsibility for Global Climate Change and Promote Green Low Carbon Development”. Its focus shifted from urban development to global governance, contributing wisdom to global governance of climate change in the post-Paris Agreement Era. And guests to the forum included leaders of ministries and commissions of the central government, officials from the United Nations and other international organizations, renowned experts and scholars, and well-known entrepreneurs at home and abroad. They shared views and discussed key topics centering on the hot issues of the governance system, key issues of international cooperation, and successful low carbon transition of cities and enterprises, etc.
On September 7, 2017, the “Sub-forum of South-South Cooperation on Climate Change” was successfully held at the 5th Shenzhen International Low Carbon City Forum, where experts and scholars discussed the deepening of South-South practical cooperation in the field of climate change, and assisted countries to achieve win-win results and share sustainable development.
At the Green Low Carbon Development Forum of Pearl River Delta (PRD) City Clusters, a number of industry experts and scholars had in-depth discussions on topics related to green and low carbon development. The Forum announced the 2020 Vision and Goals for Green and Low Carbon Development in the Pearl River Delta (PRD) City Clusters, and reached a consensus on “accelerating the promotion of green and low carbon development, and forming a new path of green and low carbon development with PRD characteristics”.
On September 7, 2017, the European (Italian) Enterprises Exhibition hosted by the European Technology Chamber was launched in Shenzhen International Low Carbon City (SILCC), kicking off the “Italian Day” as one of the core creative activities of the 5th Shenzhen International Low Carbon City Forum. On the same day, 9 European enterprises signed an agreement on the spot to move into the Huande China-Europe Future City in Shenzhen International Low Carbon City.
At the Entrepreneurs’ Forum on Climate Change, the Chinese Project on Scientific Carbon Targets was officially launched, and in the future, domestic enterprises will have a benchmark to follow in reducing emissions. So far, nearly 300 enterprises around the world have responded positively, and 65 of them have set scientific emission reduction targets and passed the approval of the international professional committee.
On the afternoon of September 8, the Fifth Shenzhen International Low Carbon City Forum held a major project signing and release ceremony in Shenzhen International Low Carbon City. It is learnt that there were 9 major projects signed and released in this ceremony, including 1 released event, 4 signed projects, 2 launched projects, 1 trophy awarding event and 1 result development project.
